The fork seal driver has always pushed both the seal and bush in for me.
How did the necj needle work out for you? I’ve had jd jet kit in my 250xc 2015 and tried both needles can’t get it right. I’m running 165 main red needle 4rd slot and 40 pilot 50:1 Motul 710
thanks for the tip, I had a small coolant leak in the front area, figured the base gasket is shot, now i'm sure of it.
Bleeding the pressure is enough or is it necessary to regulate fork pressure to certain kpa each time after that?
What was the float level BEFORE you adjusted it ? No one has mentioned this important fact.
Are you sure the sprocket is not runing true. It could be the mold shifted and the center is off. But after they do the machining process everything is true, but the inside of the casting is off a bit...
Terrible camera work
Great effort hats off. But really really would love to know how you got the bottom bolt back in after filling it from the bottom lol. I’ve never seen or done that before and I do it for a living. Great video keep it up 👍
Cheers mate but I don't have a clue as this was a few years ago now!
All the people I know that have owned one of these bikes have had a plethora of issues.... Many different problems like coils popping, starter motor getting some kind of a shim stuck into them that leaves them stranded because there's no option at all for a Kickstart, frames cracking, power valve cables snapping... Now, your gasket problem.... I can't believe the sprocket not centralised! That can cause endless hassles with your gearbox... 🙈🙈...! No wonder they're referring to them as Shitco...
Bull Shit
What head light is thst and were do you get one from
Thanks for the info
Gasket is likely blown forward by a backfire event in the crankcase. It happens sometimes 🤷 Cylinder head nuts soft... 🤔 They're normal every day nuts, easy to undo with the right size tools, I've undone numerous bikes now and not damaged any. All the best.
Put the top bush in before the tube ?
This is fantastic, thank you!
I don’t have a screw on top of my forks?
Late reply, If you haven’t found out yet though it should be a screw or a flat head if not then idk
Should always be the top screw or flat head not the middle
what's your bike?
@@CatholicCrusader__30 kayo t2 230, it’s a Chinese brand so that may be why it’s different. I kinda gave up on the suspension cuz I’ll have fun either way
I hold the carb upwards as if the carb was installed in the bike, then attach a fuel hose onto the carb and blow through it until the needle seats and blocks the airflow then adjust accordingly.
150 hours on one piston, fuck that I change mine every 60 hours for the cost it’s bugger all. Nice job regardless 👍
Each to their own mate. She's got 220 hours now so defo time to change 🙈
Clean ride
How many hours have you been riding the bike ? Does the motor break down? Do you recommend this motor?
Great tip
Legend ! Also if you dont want to buy a fork seal driver wrap duct tape around the fork tube till its around 4mm thick and use the use the tube to drive in the seal ✌🏻
That piston looks pretty good for 150hrs in all fairness, you probably would of got 50+ more if that gasket wasn't buggered. Just shows how great modern 2st are, especially after doing Weston.. which we all know can kill a bike pretty quick if its got the slightest of weaknesses. 😎👍
Yes I'm very surprised how far 2 strokes have come over the years. Good maintenance and services they should last double the factory rebuild times.
I had the exact same problem on a 2016 300. It's not an install issue, it's a design problem with the gasket slowly pushing out over time. Happened twice, until I put a thin coat of rtv on the new gasket before putting it back together. Hasn't moved since.
This problem is common on the Yamaha 2t Jetski engines for decades. The oem gasket has a rubber coating in a thin area of the gasket and on paper aftermarket gaskets it is normal to put a thin coating of good gasket material on the thin area of the base gasket. I have a Sherco 300 2t also so thanks for the tip.
Hei. Sorry, whats is coat of RTV?
Thanks for vid, good to know. I have same bike, same year almost 140 hours no faults so far. Love the bike. Need to replace factory battery for stronger one though.
hello, how much oil goes into the return fork ?? the one without spring ?? the manual says 6cm from the top edge, but it doesn't say if the cartridge should be full ...
why back off the top clicker/adjuster screws?what does that do?. Also on my beta i just slide the seal on from the other end no nead for tape. Also like the other fella said how do you refill .
Im impressed 12 hrs done in 12 mins.....
You really are not sure of what you are doing and how to do it. Pull your valve stacks to clean and drain them properly and assemble your fork tubes before you install the seal; then you install the seal and stuff from the top. That way you do not have to tape the lower slider bushing grove, hence it is less likely to cut the seal installing it from the top. AND you do not pour the fork oil in through the bottom, assemble it completely then pour it in from the cap like you should.
Vx do you have a video or info on exactly what to do that you wouldn't mind sharing?? Thanks
so you ended up running 168 main with the 38 pilot??? & was that on the same needle clip? thanks!!
Thanks for the great and informative video. One question I have, at 13:00 when you talk about the seal orientation, is this correct? I'm currently attempting the same job with the same forks and make of seal. I thought the same as you however I also contacted the manufacturer to check and they said the side with the writing on should remain visible (so the non oil side). From your video I think you're doing it the other way? Does anyone have any experience with this? Which way is correct?
Hi thanks for the comment. As far as I know everything was correct. Although this vid was made a few years ago now! Usually the seal will go flat side down. The inner side will have a spring inset into a groove in the seal.
I was wondering the same thing. My original seals are installed opposite of the way they are installed in the video
Nice one buddy great video. I did laugh when you burped though haha
Wipe the fkn camera.
I know I should of wiped it! It was so intense I completely forgot about the camera 😂
hey man what do i do if my bike doesnt have that little screw on the lid? should i just open the top lid?
No
No that will release the air pressure and make your fork basically flat
how do you take apart the cartridge to properly clean it ? i did the same as you but it really needs to come apart for a proper cleaning before reassembly .
This video is helpful, but the POV is making me seasick. Hopefully you can use a tripod next time ;)
Hey i have Question...
Hi there,I can't get the bottom bolt out of the damper leg it just keeps spinning, so I can't get stanchion out.
Try an impact driver that may help
Just done this set up on mine it’s so much better and it does use less fuel thank you
Does the rear suspension need to be bled as well?
Sorry but why put the seal on the bottom of the stanchion, whilst saying be careful of the sharp edges? Why not put the seal on from the top? Surely if you change the bottom bush put that on first, grease or oil the stanchion and put it into the lower. Then slide the top bush down, with the cup and push into place with the seal driver. Then put the (oiled) seal on from the top and seat that with the fork driver. Never, ever use a metal screwdriver to lever up the fork wiper, one slip and you'll be amazed at the price of a new stanchion.
Putting the oil seal on from the top - exactly what I am thinking.
exactly why I just re-read this, couldn't see why it wouldn't go on the top?... no sharp edges?!.. that is my plan anyway..
Do you not need to bleed these forks ? If they are anything like tech forks you do.
Who’s the unit on the 450 in the background
Fuck sake man just stop fucking about and buy another trials bike !!!
Медведь думает о мотоциклиста как о придурках, диких животных.
Defo done more like 650 hours, foot pegs must be worn out by now !!
Wat altitude are you riding at? And what temperature are you normally riding in?
I havent seem to have any air in mine i put speed bleaders in there how long dose it take for air to build up
My bike has air in there after every ride, I have the push air release screws on there makes it really easy. ua-cam.com/video/p6ICU55BCx0/v-deo.html
I have the same bike I’m at about 550 hrs. Considering a lower-end rebuild as maintenance.
mine leaks when on the kickstand
Great video!!! I have to change both seals in my evo 300 2013 and your video has detailed everything really good. Do know how much oil in milliliters is needed in each fork? I don’t have the tool to mesure the level. Thanks for the video!
